Sorority Chick Switch at Legally Blonde: Ghebremichael Replaces Moore 7/2

Asmeret Ghebremichael will assume the role of Elle Woods sorority pal Pilar in the Broadway production of Legally Blonde on July 2. Original star Dequina Moore has landed a role in a TV-movie and will leave the show on July 1.

Ghebremichael was last seen in the ensemble of the off-Broadway production of In the Heights at 37 Arts. She also appeared in the Broadway ensembles of Spamalot where she covered the role of the Lady of the Lake, Wicked and Footloose. Other credits include off-Broadway's Lone Star Love and regional stagings of A Little Princess, Finian's Rainbow and The Wiz.

Moore is the first cast member of Legally Blonde to exit the production. As previously announced, Leslie Kritzer who plays fellow sorority chick Serena will be appearing in the out-of-town production of the Broadway-bound A Catered Affair in September and is expected to leave Blonde sometime in August. No replacement has been announced.

Legally Blonde also stars 2007 Tony Award nominees Laura Bell Bundy as Elle Woods, Christian Borle as Emmett and Orfeh as Paulette. Also featured in the cast are Annaleigh Ashford as Margot, Richard H. Blake as Warner, Michael Rupert as Professor Callahan, Kate Shindle as Vivienne and Nikki Snelson as Brooke.
